The short answer: shipping 6 bottles of Australian wine with CellarJet costs up to 34–50% less than booking the same shipment directly with a leading international express courier. Combine up to 132 bottles from several wineries, distilleries or retailers into one CellarJet shipment and the saving rises to as much as 64%.

Found a wine at a cellar door in the Barossa, a small-batch gin in Tasmania, or a favourite at an Australian online retailer that doesn't ship overseas? You can buy it, send it to CellarJet in Adelaide, and we'll get it to your door abroad: professionally packed, customs-ready and for a lot less than going direct.

How much can you save shipping wine from Australia?

We compared CellarJet's rates with the advertised rates of leading international express couriers for the same number of bottles to the same destination.

Why is CellarJet cheaper than shipping direct?

Three things drive the saving:

  1. Volume rates. Get Freighted, the team behind CellarJet, has shipped more than 85,000 alcohol shipments worldwide over 20+ years. You get the benefit of rates negotiated at that scale, not a walk-in retail rate.
  2. Consolidation. Buy from three wineries and ship direct, and you pay for three separate international shipments. With CellarJet, everything arrives at our Adelaide warehouse and leaves as one shipment. That is why multi-seller savings reach 56–64%.
  3. Packaging that fits the job. We repack every order into international-grade packaging designed specifically for glass bottles, so you are not paying to ship bulky retail boxes or extra filler.

How does shipping wine with CellarJet work?

  1. Get an estimate. Tell us how many bottles and where they are going. You will see the price in AUD with an indicative conversion to your currency.
  2. Buy from any Australian seller. Wineries, distilleries, cellar doors and online retailers can deliver your purchases to the CellarJet warehouse in Adelaide.
  3. Book your shipment and send your invoices. Forward the order confirmations from your registered email. We use them to prepare your customs paperwork.
  4. We consolidate and repack. Everything is combined and repacked into international-grade export packaging.
  5. We ship it express to your door. Fees are charged before dispatch, so there are no surprises from us along the way.

Will my bottles arrive safely?

Yes. Retail wine boxes are built for a trip across town, not across the world. Every CellarJet shipment is repacked into international-grade packaging custom-designed for glass bottles, so your wine arrives in the same condition it left Australia. Optional shipment insurance covers loss and damage (it is included on every US shipment).

Who handles customs and import rules?

We do. Shipping alcohol internationally means commercial invoices, accurate product descriptions, alcohol content and destination-specific rules. CellarJet prepares the customs paperwork for every shipment and checks it against your country’s import regulations, so it clears customs without you having to learn the process. Outside the USA, import duties and taxes are not included: your country’s customs charges them to the receiver on arrival.

Shipping wine from Australia to the USA

The major express couriers, DHL, UPS and FedEx, will not deliver alcohol to private consumers in the USA, which usually leaves American buyers of Australian wine with no direct option. CellarJet ships wine under 20% alcohol to US consumers through a licensed importer, with duties quoted upfront in your estimate. Combine bottles from several sellers to save up to 64%. We currently ship to every state except Utah, Mississippi, Delaware, Rhode Island and Oklahoma. Spirits cannot be shipped to the USA.

Shipping wine from Australia to the UK, Europe, Canada, NZ and Asia

Outside the USA, we ship both wine and spirits to 15 more countries: Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan and the United Kingdom. Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Italy are limited to 6 bottles per shipment.

To these markets we ship both wine and spirits, door to door by express courier. A 6-bottle shipment costs up to 34% less to the UK and New Zealand, and up to 37% less to Singapore and Hong Kong. Consolidate up to 132 bottles from several sellers and savings reach 56% (UK), 58% (NZ) and 63% (Singapore, Hong Kong and other Asian markets). Import duties and taxes are paid by the receiver on arrival.
